International Relations Professional Salaries in Texas

Having a strong international presence is so important to Texas that it has World Affairs Council offices located throughout the state in Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston.

Nonprofits are a major economic force in Texas and employed 403,196 people in 2008 according to a joint report released by the Texas Center for Social Impact and the Johns Hopkins Center for Civil Society Studies. In addition to the numerous nonprofits in Texas, state and federal agencies all rely on the expertise of professionals with expertise in international relations and tend to compensate them highly for this knowledge.

A 2013 article in The Dallas Morning News reported that 100 people who worked at Dallas-Fort Worth nonprofits earned at least $500,000 a year in total compensation. Charity Navigator surveyed the median compensation for the CEOs of nonprofits involved in international relations that were located in the Southwestern region of the US, to include Texas (2013):
